New York, 1974. Old, crumbling tenement buildings are being torn down for the construction of newer, flashier housing, leaving the low-income population out of a home. College student and self-made woman Rita has much to say about these greedy landlords; but unbeknownst to her, it is her own boyfriend, neighborhood bar owner Joe, working behind the scenes to flush the impoverished population out of their community. Meanwhile, a young janitor privy to Joe’s dealings is working to expose something much greater than any of the neighborhood’s residents could have imagined.

About Us
Berea College Theatre is the primary on-campus theatre organization, producing an assortment of student and faculty-directed Mainstage productions each academic year. The Theatre Department also supports a co-curricular Labor Department, with 28 full-time positions available to students. From onstage to behind the scenes, and everything in between, students learn the foundations of a fully operating theatre through hands-on experience.
