Student Requirements

Student participants will be expected to work on the project 40 hours per week for the duration of the project, may not be enrolled in any summer course (here or elsewhere) and will be compensated through the summer Labor Program. Student research hours must be completed by Friday, July 26th, 2024. Student labor rates are determined by the Student Labor Office guidelines.

As part of their commitment to this project, faculty will inform their students that they:

  • Must respond to a pre- and post-research survey (URCPP grants for eligible students will be added to accounts at this time).
  • Must participate in the Berea Undergraduate Research and Internship Symposium (BURIS) in the Fall Term of 2024, typically in October.
  • Must participate in the weekly URCPP meetings held throughout the summer. These meetings will consist of workshops, short 15-minute research presentations by each group that are tailored for a general, and a picnic. Guidance on how to construct these research presentations will be provided at the beginning of the URCPP summer sessions in the first URCPP meeting. Both faculty and participating students are expected to attend these sessions.

In preparation for the Berea Undergraduate Research and Internship Symposium, some faculty require their students to create their posters for the Symposium as part of their concluding work for the summer.
